MY 600-Lb. Life star Pauline Potter – once known as the world’s heaviest woman – has died age 62 following a horrific car accident, her son Dillon has confirmed.
The TLC personality passed away on November 27 after suffering a string of serious health problems following a car accident in January.
Dillon shared a heartbreaking video to his mom’s YouTube Channel and revealed the pair had smashed into a broken-down truck on a highway in the early hours of the morning.
He claimed the truck did not have its hazard lights on.
Dillon told viewers: “Unfortunately, my mom has passed away this past Thursday on Thanksgiving.
“I will try to make this as short as I can. Back in January of this year of 2025, we both got in a pretty bad car accident.
“We were driving early in the morning. It was still dark outside. We were driving on a dark two lane highway, and there was a truck and trailer that was stopped in the middle of the road.
“And we did not see it because they didn’t have any lights on …
“Also, at the same time, um, there was an oncoming car in the other lane, so there was no way to go around it.
“My mom was driving, I was asleep in the passenger seat, with the seat reclined, and my mom tried to swerve to go around it.
“However, the passenger side of the car, hit the corner of the trailer and completely spun us around, and when we stopped, we were facing the opposite direction on the opposite side of the road.
“At the time of impact, we were going 50 miles per hour.
“However, at the time, we did not know that. I was completely out of it, of course, because I was asleep when it happened.”
Dillon’s mom was deemed at fault for the crash and he said it had been a “frustrating time”.
But after speaking with new attorneys the family have been given fresh hope, and he said: “I am currently working with some attorneys right now.
“I’m not gonna say what’s going on with that because nothing has happened yet.”
Weeks after the crash Pauline experienced extreme pain in her ribs and over the next 11 months, she battled a series of health complications including “digestive issues”.
In July she was rushed to the ER and after multiple tests, doctors finally discovered a blockage in her oesophagus that prevented her from keeping food down.
In August she was also diagnosed with Covid, placed in an Intensive Care Unit.
Dillon said his mom developed a bed sore on her back that wouldn’t heal and needed to rebuild her strength and nutrition for potential surgery, but doctors struggled to feed her.
Over a month ago she was showing signs of respiratory failure and ended up in a rehab facility, but was then transferred into hospice care in November.
The family were then told there was a strong chance that Pauline wasn’t going to recover, but they were “praying and hoping”.
She was released to her sister’s home on November 19 and was awake and was able to talk, but still unable to keep her food down.
Dillon said the family went to his Aunt’s house on Thanksgiving, but Pauline passed away as they made the journey there, and though no official cause of death has been confirmed.
Her heartbroken son has launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for his mother’s memorial.
Dillon said he wanted to share the news to “tell the truth about what really happened”.
Pauline first appeared on My 600lb Life in 2015 when she was 50 years old.
She was unable to do anything on her own except “feed and wipe” herself and viewers saw her being cared for by Dillon and her niece Megan.
Starting the show at 678lbs (over 50st), she went on to lose more than 500lbs and was able to have skin-removal surgery.
As she put it at the time: “I am absolutely trapped in this body. I let myself get way out of control. I feel like I am dying every day.”
