Just over two weeks after season 2 premiered, Netflix has officially confirmed that The Four Seasons will return for a third season, continuing its fast-growing success as one of the platform’s standout comedy series.
The announcement was made at the BANFF World Media Festival by Jinny Howe, Netflix’s Head of Scripted Series for the US and Canada, confirming that the hit show will return for another eight-episode run.
The series, which stars Tina Fey, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Marco Calvani, Erika Henningsen, and Colman Domingo, will continue its signature storytelling format in season 3. Much like previous installments, the new season will be structured around the four seasons of the year, with two episodes dedicated to each season. Each arc follows the central group of friends as they reunite for holidays or celebrations that inevitably spiral into emotional chaos, comedic tension, and unexpected drama.
One of the biggest talking points surrounding the upcoming season is the expanded role of Erika Henningsen’s character, Ginny. After appearing only briefly in parts of season 2, it has now been confirmed she will play a more significant role moving forward, giving her character a stronger presence in the unfolding group dynamics.
However, the biggest uncertainty remains the future of David Tennant’s character. The actor made a surprise cameo in season 2 as new neighbour Gianpiero, instantly sparking fan theories about a possible romantic storyline with Anne. While Netflix has not confirmed how large his role will be in season 3, the creators have not ruled out further appearances — leading many viewers to believe his storyline is far from over.
Co-creators Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield celebrated the renewal with a playful message of appreciation, saying: “Middle-aged people, LFG!” — a comment that reflects the show’s blend of sharp humour and relatable adult chaos.
Netflix executives also praised the series for its unique tone and character-driven storytelling, highlighting the strong chemistry of the ensemble cast and the show’s ability to balance heartfelt moments with biting comedy.
Tracey Pakosta, Netflix’s VP of US Comedy, described the series as “a magical blend of heart and sharp humour,” adding that audiences have “fallen in love with these characters and their chaotic, beautiful journeys.”
