Gogglebox favourites Jenny and Lee have shared an emotional announcement ahead of the return of the hit Channel 4 series — revealing that their comeback comes after a difficult period of treatment and determination for Jenny.
The long-running show returns on Friday, February 6, with Season 27 airing at 9pm. And despite recent health struggles, the much-loved Hull duo have confirmed they will be back on screens — a moment that has moved fans across the country.
Jenny and Lee, who first joined Gogglebox in 2014, have become two of the programme’s most recognisable and beloved faces. But behind the familiar laughter and sofa banter, the road to the new series has not been an easy one.
In a light-hearted Instagram video shared on Thursday morning (February 5), Lee is seen sitting beside Jenny as they announce their return.
Turning to her, Lee asks:
“What is your favourite thing to do?”
Jenny smiles and replies: “Watch tele!”
Lee then adds with a grin: “It just so happens, we are!”
The pair go on to confirm they will be back this Friday, before signing off with the broadcast details.
“On Friday!” they say together.
“See you all on Friday,” Lee adds, while Jenny declares: “See you soon — I’m back!”
Lee then confirms: “See you at 9 o’clock, Channel 4.”
While the announcement appeared upbeat, it carried deeper meaning for viewers aware of Jenny’s recent health battle.
Jenny has previously revealed that she has been living with chronic arthritis, a condition that causes persistent joint pain and stiffness. During flare-ups, the pain has at times been so severe that it has affected even the simplest daily tasks.
She has candidly admitted that there were moments when she struggled to fasten buttons on her clothes or even open a jar, highlighting just how challenging everyday life could become during periods of relapse.
Despite this, Jenny has continued with treatment and recovery, pushing through the pain with determination to be well enough to return to filming alongside Lee — a decision that has resonated deeply with fans.
Alongside the video, the pair wrote in the caption:
“Oh no. Holidays over — that went quick.”
They added: “Who’s ready to watch a bit of tele? Back Friday 6th February, 9pm, Channel 4 — see ya Friday.”
