Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre has revealed how a previous health diagnosis has left him in fear and admitted to his wife’s thoughts
Peter Andre has revealed how a past health diagnosis has led to further fears. The musician, 53, is still seemingly in top physical condition, but he insists that if he wanted to go down the cosmetic route, he couldn’t.
Peter admits that he physically can’t have Botox or take any fat jabs. And while he says it’s not something he would currently want, it’s something he physically couldn’t anyway.
It comes years after he was diagnosed with a panic disorder. The condition was discovered after the Mysterious Girl singer had been battling anxiety and panic attacks. Now, Pete finds himself with a fear of medicine.
This means the star hasn’t taken paracetamol in three years. And it also led to him having to quit his Botox procedures. The new fear has him scared at the thought of a foreign body entering him.
Joking that he had previously been told he needed Botox, Pete revealed that his panic disorders manifested into a fear of medicine. Speaking to The Sun, Pete said: “I have a fear of taking medicine, of putting something in my body that I can’t get out.
“That includes injections. So I haven’t had Botox in about four years, I can’t have flu jabs, and I will never, ever have filler. Even when I get a headache now, I cannot take paracetamol.”
He admitted his wife, Emily, who is a doctor, believes he needs exposure therapy. “Obviously, with my wife being a doctor, it is hard,” he went on. “She thinks I just need exposure therapy and to get on with it, basically.”
Emily, 36, and Pete share kids Millie, 12, Theo, 9, and 23-month-old Belle. Pete also has Junior, 20, and 18-year-old Princess with ex-wife Katie Price.
And Pete has revealed his wife has also been dealing with her own health woes. Emily recently revealed she had been suffering from shingles. The condition is caused by the same virus behind chicken pox, and she had said she wanted to speak out about it because it is not normally associated with those in her age bracket
Writing in his new! magazine column, Pete said: “It was great Emily spoke out about her shingles diagnosis – she wants to help others and make them understand it from a medical point-of-view.
“I was really surprised when she told me, but she didn’t make a fuss at all, even though it was very painful for her. It was very interesting to see how she handled it and explained to people how it needs to be dealt with. I think she’s through the worst now, thank goodness.”
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, Emily had told her followers: “Hi everyone, I wanted to share something a bit personal, but also hopefully helpful. You might have seen my videos this week; I mentioned I had a minor health issue.
“Basically, what’s happened is I’ve been diagnosed with shingles. So, as a doctor, I thought this was a good opportunity to do a bit of education around what shingles is. You might associate shingles with older people, by the way, and you would be right because that is the most common age group affected.
“I’m definitely a bit younger than the typical demographic, but it can happen at any age, which is why it’s worth knowing about.”
