Kerry Katona has opened up about a frightening health scare that saw her rushed to hospital — and left spending the night on a bed in a corridor amid severe overcrowding.
The former Atomic Kitten star, 45, revealed she was admitted after suddenly falling ill with what doctors later diagnosed as colitis, a painful and long-term inflammation of the bowel.
Taking to social media in the early hours of the morning, Kerry shared a raw and exhausted update from hospital, explaining that she had been waiting for treatment since the previous day and had been unable to sleep.
“It’s 2.10 in the morning and I’ve been in hospital since yesterday,” she said.
“It’s so full that I’m on a bed in the hall. I haven’t slept at all — but I know I’m in the right place.”
A Diagnosis She Never Expected
Kerry explained that the condition was previously undiagnosed and had left her in significant pain.
Colitis can cause severe abdominal cramps, chronic diarrhoea, fatigue and inflammation of the colon, and often requires long-term medical management.
The former Atomic Kitten star needed medical attention on Thursday, resulting in an overnight stay at her local hospital – where she was diagnosed with Colitis, an inflammation of the colon
Despite the discomfort — and her trademark dark humour — Kerry reassured fans that she was remaining positive as doctors worked to stabilise her symptoms.
“It’s been rough — excuse the pun,” she joked.
“But I’m grateful to be getting looked after.”
Fans Rally Behind Her
As news of her hospital stay spread, messages of support flooded in from fans, many praising Kerry for her honesty and resilience.
“Sending you strength,” one follower wrote.
“Hope you’re feeling better soon,” added another.
The singer, who is a mother of five, has long been open about her personal struggles — from mental health battles to financial hardship — and has frequently spoken about the importance of transparency when it comes to health.
Speaking Out on Family, Boundaries and Life Choices
The hospital update came just days after Kerry addressed another sensitive topic in her magazine column — revealing she would be heartbroken if her children ever joined OnlyFans, despite her own success on the platform.
While insisting she would never cut ties with her children over career choices, Kerry admitted some decisions would still be difficult to accept as a parent.
“I’m Taking Things One Day at a Time”
For now, Kerry says her focus is firmly on recovery.
“I’m exhausted, but I’m staying positive,” she told followers.
“One step at a time.”
As she continues to rest and receive treatment, fans are hoping this latest setback marks the beginning of better health — not another chapter of struggle.
