Scott Mills spotted smiling again in second sighting after BBC sacking

Scott Mills has been seen out with husband Sam Vaughan and their dog again in Hertfordshire, with today’s stroll showing a slightly calmer mood compared to his first outing

Scott Mills has been spotted out again with husband Sam Vaughan and their pet dog in Hertfordshire, with today’s sighting showing a slightly lighter mood compared to his first public appearance following his BBC exit.

The former BBC Radio 2 Breakfast host was seen enjoying a stroll with Sam and their Cavapoo Teddy, dressed head-to-toe in black with a jacket, jumper, trousers and trainers, finishing the look with statement sunglasses.

While still keeping a low profile behind dark shades, Scott was seen sitting in one of the photos during the walk, a subtle change from yesterday’s more sombre outing that sparked concern among fans.

Yesterday, the radio star was photographed looking glum as he stepped out near his home following a two-week holiday, marking his first public appearance since his sudden BBC departure.

At that time, Scott was seen covering his face with a cap and oversized sunglasses, while Sam Vaughan also appeared subdued, wearing a beige jacket, cap and glasses as they walked their dog.

The latest sighting, however, shows a slightly different tone, with Scott appearing more at ease during the relaxed family walk, though still clearly keeping a low profile.

The pair’s public appearances come after Scott was removed from his role at BBC Radio 2 following historical allegations relating to his personal conduct. He was taken off air on February 24 while the BBC assessed the situation, before later confirming he was no longer contracted.

A BBC spokesperson previously said: “While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted to work with the BBC.”

It was also reported that the allegation related to a historic matter dating back more than a decade, involving a personal relationship, though Scott has denied allegations and no legal action has been taken.

BBC Music Director Lorna Clarke previously told staff the news would come as a shock, acknowledging Scott’s long service across Radio 1, 5Live, Radio 2 and television.

Scott had been a BBC mainstay for decades, first joining Radio 1 in 1998 before later moving to Radio 2 in 2022, eventually taking over the flagship breakfast show in January 2025 following Zoe Ball’s departure.

He is also widely known for his Eurovision Song Contest coverage and was reportedly earning between £355,000 and £359,999 a year according to the BBC’s latest pay report.

Despite the ongoing attention surrounding his exit, today’s more relaxed appearance suggests a quieter, more settled moment for the presenter as he adjusts to life away from his long-standing BBC role.
