Prosecutors told the jury that after the girls had been drinking, Alford sexually assaulted them. The court heard that he had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl in the garden of the house and later again in a downstairs toilet. In addition, he was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl while she was lying half asleep on a sofa in the living room. The charges included four counts of sexual activity with a 14-year-old, as well as sexual assault and assault by penetration involving the older girl.
