Bad Bunny takes aim at Fox News and President Trump in brutal SNL swipe
Bad Bunny hosted the opening episode of season 51 of Saturday Night Live less than a week after it was confirmed that he would perform at the Super Bowl LX halftime show
Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny did not hold back as he hosted Saturday Night Live on October 4 and took a brutal swipe at Donald Trump – as well as Fox News.
The 31-year-old rapper returned to the much-loved show to host the first episode of season 51 – and he did not disappoint.
His appearance comes less than a week after he was announced to be the Super Bowl LX halftime show performer, which led to a major backlash from MAGA fans – and even saw White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dodge a question about it.
However, none of the negativity stopped Bad Bunny – real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – from fronting the NBC show on Saturday night.
In his opening monologue, the music star not only spoke about his recent residency and celebrities apparently taking drugs at his concerts – he also mentioned his Super Bowl news.
“I’m very, very happy, and I think everybody is happy about it,” he said, before sarcastically adding, “Even Fox News.”
A montage of spliced clips from the news network then played out, which saw the various hosts saying, “Bad Bunny is my favorite musician and he should be the next President.”
“No, but really I am really excited to be doing the Super Bowl, and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy,” Bad Bunny then said before making a short speech in Spanish.
In Spanish, he said, “Especially all the Latinos in the entire world and here in the United States. All the people who have worked to open doors. More than an accomplishment of mine, it’s an accomplishment for all of us demonstrating that our hard work in this country will never be taken away from us or erased.”
Bad Bunny then reverted back to English and made a clear dig at the people who have been moaning about him singing in Spanish at the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show.
“And if you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn!” he said, before the live studio audience erupted into cheers and a round of applause.
Viewers tuning in at home couldn’t get enough as they took to X to praise Bad Bunny.
One person wrote, “I like Bad Bunny, dude,” and a second commented, “bad bunny so good at this.”
A third fan wrote, “That was such a bold and funny line! Bad Bunny always knows how to own the stage with confidence. Time to brush up on our Spanish before the Super Bowl!”
And another said, “Bad Bunny is hosting SNL and I bet MAGA is triggered right now!”
The upcoming Super Bowl performance will be Bad Bunny’s only concert scheduled to take place at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8 next year.
The Puerto Rican star left the US out of his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour – beginning next month – due to fears of ICE raids happening at his shows. But he will tour countries including Mexico, Costa Rica, England and Germany.
