Strictly fans ‘figure out’ third star joining line-up alongside Emma Willis and Johannes
The intense speculation surrounding the new Strictly Come Dancing hosts continues and viewers believe they have uncovered the identity of a third star to take the reins
Strictly fans are getting excited by the prospect of a third host in the new series. Emma Willis has been heavily tipped to be announced as the main presenter, with popular dancer Johannes Radebe reportedly joining her.
But now, viewers believe they’ve worked out a third star to be joining the ranks following the exit of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. And the honour is thought to be going to comedian Mel Giedroyc.
A TikTok user shared their investigative work on the social media platform. She had previously labelled the dance contest her “favourite show”. And the user explained how Mel would make the perfect choice as she is already a trusted figure within the BBC.
In 2016, Mel was on hosting duty for the live Strictly tour. She has also worked out the Great British Bake Off and presented The One Show. The comedian has also fronted parts of Children in Need coverage and the Eurovision Song Contest.
And the silence from her end has the user convinced she will soon be announced as part of the team. As does the apparent space in Mel’s schedule.
While Mel and Emily Willis remain silent on the speculation, Fleur East followed Zoe Ball in admitting to her disappointment at missing out on the job. Fleur was speaking to her breakfast radio co-hosts when she opened up on her feelings.
She told Hits Radio Breakfast Show’s Will Best and James Barr: “All right, I’m going to say it. I did say initially, after Tess and Claudia announced they were leaving Strictly you know, it’s probably not going to happen [for me] and I’m happy for whoever gets it
“And we were just talking about Emma Willis being announced and I was like, yeah, great, amazing and I’ve kind of lied to myself that I’d be all right with not doing it or not being considered for the job. But I’m kind of bothered…”
She went on: “I think it’s okay to admit that being faced with the opportunity of such an incredible job. I mean, it’s an amazing show. I’ve not only had the privilege and pleasure of being on it, but then also hosting It Takes Two and being part of the family, it’s been an incredible job to be a part of.
“So, when you’re within touching distance of something like that, and even considering it for a minute, I never allowed myself to really go fully there, but I did think about it. I was like, that would be amazing.
“So yeah, I guess I have been lying to myself when I’ve been saying, I’m fine. I’m coming to terms with it but I feel I was okay before it was kind of confirmed that someone’s got the job. Because until it was confirmed, I was like, well, they might call me one day.
“They might do all the tests and they go, actually, yeah, we haven’t seen Fleur. Let’s give her a little call. But it’s gone to the right person.”
As well as Tess and Claudia leaving, five professional dancers have also left the line-up in a huge shake up that is set to try to revamp the show.
