Their display of marital bliss comes as fresh attention is drawn to long-running rumours of tension between Nicola and her mother-in-law, Victoria. An interviewer who previously quizzed Nicola about the infamous wedding dress row has now revealed that the actress struggled to even say Victoria’s name during the conversation.
The interview, conducted just months after Nicola and Brooklyn’s lavish Palm Beach wedding and originally published in Grazia, was republished this week. The journalist admitted she was struck by Nicola’s reluctance to directly name either David or Victoria, recalling how the actress would trail off with “she, Victoria, uh…” before defaulting to phrases like “Brooklyn’s mom” or “dad.” In contrast, Nicola spoke warmly and effortlessly about Brooklyn’s younger sister Harper Beckham, describing her as “the sweetest” and joking that she finally got the little sister she had always wanted.
At the time, the interview briefly addressed why Nicola ultimately didn’t wear a Victoria Beckham-designed wedding dress, despite plans to do so. The issue resurfaced last week when Brooklyn shared a six-page statement detailing his feud with his parents, accusing his mother of cancelling the dress at the eleventh hour and leaving Nicola scrambling for an alternative.
Nicola had previously explained that she was part of a group text with her mother, Victoria and her long-time stylist, where she was excited to begin the design process. She said both she and Victoria were extremely busy at the time, and after several days of silence, Victoria reportedly decided her atelier couldn’t complete the dress in time.
