The Traitors winners still waiting to receive life changing prize fund
The Traitors aired a gripping finale this evening after a series of twists and turns, with the winners finally being revealed – but not before some more shock banishments
The Traitors winners have yet to receive their prize fund, despite triumphing on the show. The BBC show ended tonight with a shock twist – after a very dramatic finale.
However, the winners are unlikely to have received their prize fund just yet. The show films months in advance of it being aired, and as a result, it takes time for the full payment to come through from the show bosses.
It has been the case for both last year’s winners, Jake and Leanne, and the previous year’s winner, Harry, too. Jake and Leanne told us: “We haven’t spent any of the prize money, none of it has gone yet.
“We apologised to Frankie and Alexander straight away for voting them out. We want Alexander to find a nice wife, everyone loves him.”
The same was said for Harry Clark, who won the BBC show the previous year and did not receive his prize winnings until months later. He recalled after his win: “I’d won, but then I had to go back to work and I couldn’t tell anyone so I sort of just wanted to forget about it. And now it’s like reliving it and being able to tell everyone that I’ve actually won The Traitors series two.

“I felt like I was lying even more. I had a month where I had to lie to people and build connections on a lie and then I get home and then I’ve got to carry on lying for four months again, just even about being on the show – let alone winning it. So it’s been a relief, last night was a massive relief because it’s like, ‘Oh okay, I don’t need to lie for a bit now so I can chill out.'”
He also admitted he hadn’t yet received the money, despite him being revealed as the winner. He quipped: “It’s mad, isn’t it? I can’t really believe it. I can’t even explain it because, well one: I haven’t got the money yet, so that’s probably why. And two: I just can’t believe it. Like I still can’t believe it.”
It’s quite common for the stars of the BBC show not to receive their prize fund until much later. This series, there was a whopping £120,000 up for grabs, which is earned through missions.
On Celebrity Traitors, it was different – with £100,000 being up for grabs. In the end, winner Alan Carr bagged an impressive £87,500 for the charity Neuroblastoma UK, which supports children with the rare form of cancer.
Aaron Evans, Hannah Byczkowski and Meryl Williams won the first series, with Aaron giving it to his mum to look after and Hannah using it to buy a car to travel around as a full-time stand-up comedian. Meryl used the money for forehead surgery.
Harry Clark, who won the second series, gave his parents some of the money and spent some of his first house, as well as helping to pay off some small debts.
In the third series, Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown shared the prize pot and he used the money to take his wife on holiday and also raise awareness of cerebral palsy, whilst Leanne used the money to support her family and plan her wedding.
