“They Swore It Would Never Happen… But Last Night, Cat Deeley And Ben Shephard Tore Up The Rulebook.” The This Morning Hosts Didn’t Just Snatch Their First-Ever NTA Win — They Shattered Years Of TV Tradition With A Victory That Left Even Their Rivals Stunned. Cat, Eyes Glazed With Tears And Champagne, Gasped Into The Mic: “We’ve Waited Far Too Long For This… And Now, We’re Taking It Back.” What Followed Was Chaos — Wild Cheers, A Trophy Finally In Their Hands, And A Flood Of Shockingly Drunken Videos That Set Social Media On Fire. For A Show Once Branded As “Cursed” At The Awards, This Wasn’t Just A Win… It Was A Declaration Of War. And As Their Champagne-Fueled Antics Keep Spilling Online, One Thing Is Clear — Daytime TV Will Never Look The Same Again.

This Morning’s Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard broke with a major TV tradition after finally winning at the National Television Awards.

The morning show won the Daytime Award at the NTAs, held at the O2 Arena in London on Wednesday.

For years former hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield had a tradition of partying hard when the show scooped the award – and would arrive for filming the next day still wearing their red carpet attire, nursing brutal hangovers.

This Morning has missed out on the gong for the last two years but the show once again came out on top this year, in what was expected to be a night of huge celebration.

It was the first win for current presenters Cat and Ben, who opted to ditch the morning-after tradition – despite showing very drunken clips from the after party at the beginning of the show.

Taking to the set on Thursday morning, Cat traded her flowing green evening gown for a red chiffon midi dress, while Ben ditched the tailored suit in favour of a polo shirt and chinos.

The decision to abandon the tradition of wearing last night’s clothes may have disappointed This Morning’s former editor Martin Frizell – who stepped down from the role earlier this year to look after his wife Fiona Phillips as she battles early onset dementia.

Taking to Instagram ahead of the ceremony yesterday, Martin wrote: ‘Fingers crossed for my great team from This Morning at tonight’s NTAs.

‘Remember there’s a tradition to uphold if you win! x’

Alison Hammond proclaimed the ‘natural order has been restored’ after This Morning’s win on Wednesday.

The TV presenter, 50, admitted the This Morning team had been ‘humbled’ as they missed out on the award the last two years.

Although Cat and Ben are the main presenters, it was Friday host Alison who stepped up to the microphone first as they accepted the award.

‘Natural order has been restored,’ she said. ‘Can we just say a massive thank you to each and every person who voted for This Morning. We are so overwhelmed.

‘This award means so much. We’ve been humbled the last two years, we haven’t won this award. We don’t take it lightly that we won this award, we’re so grateful.’

Cat also took to the microphone and said: ‘We are so lucky to get to do this show, we all love it. Every single person who comes on, we love this show and it’s like having a family.’

The Chase won the Daytime Award at the 2024 ceremony while The Repair Shop won in 2023.

Cat was pictured with a ring on her wedding finger as she walked the red carpet just weeks after announcing her split from Patrick Kielty.

Cat, 48, and Patrick, 54, who have two boys together, announced the end of their marriage in July in a joint statement – insisting ‘no other party’ was involved.

A diamond wedding ring was in clear view on her left hand as she boasted a big smile while posing for pictures at the O2 Arena in London.

Cat had previously been snapped with her wedding ring off as she opted to swap the dazzling rock to her right hand.

It appeared to be a pointed gesture that seemingly symbolised her new life chapter.

The outfit, which featured a one-shoulder neckline, showed off her slim physique.

Meanwhile, her This Morning co-host Ben wore a dark rich green velvet dinner jacket for the awards.
