A HIT 80s band have been forced to axe a forthcoming leg of their tour due to soaring costs.
Fans hoping to see the chart-toppers live will be gutted after they pulled the plug on a string of planned dates.
Roxette have cancelled their forthcoming North American tour after promoters cited logistics and rising touring costs.
The disappointing news comes just as the band’s 1990 smash hit It Must Have Been Love surpassed one billion views on YouTube.
What should have been a time for celebration has instead turned into one of disappointment, with the Swedish duo no longer taking to the road in the US and Canada as planned.
Sharing the news on social media, the band wrote: “Due to logistics and hugely increased touring costs, Live Nation US has decided to postpone the North American tour. Hope to see you some other time down the road.”
Frontman Per Gessle later apologised to fans, sharing: “Lena, I and the band are of course disappointed.
“We were really looking forward to this North American tour and the US is by far our biggest streaming market.”
He added: “This decision was made by Live Nation USA, which they probably based on their own calculations.”
The singer concluded: “I hope we can play for our fab fans in the USA and Canada at some point in the near future. / P.”
Fans who had already bought tickets have been told they will automatically receive a full refund.
The duo are currently touring Europe to celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary.
Roxette now consists of Per Gessle and Lena Philipsson after original singer Marie Fredriksson died in 2019.
Per and Marie formed the band in 1978 but achieved their breakthrough in the late 80s, with hits include Joyride and The Look.
