The ballroom has never seen a love story quite like theirs — and now Strictly Come Dancing sweethearts Dianne Buswell and Joe Sugg are preparing to welcome their first child together. 
The couple, who fell in love after being paired on the hit BBC dance show in 2018, have confirmed they’ve already chosen a name for their unborn baby boy — and fans can’t stop guessing what it might be. 
A “Unique” Name for Their Little Dancer
In a new YouTube video posted on October 27, Joe and Dianne revealed they’ve settled on a “unique” name for their son — one that’s meaningful, but not something you hear every day.
“We’ve picked a name, but we’re not going to reveal it yet. I don’t really see this name anywhere — it’s quite unusual, but not weird. It can also be shortened, which is nice.”
Dianne, 36, chimed in with her signature humour:
“It’s not like Apple or Pear! It’s kind of like Joe — cute when you’re little, and more grown-up when you’re older.”
Joe added with a grin:
“It could even work as a good sportsman name. I’ve been trying not to say it out loud at all, but Dianne keeps slipping up and calling him by it!”
And then, laughing, he teased fans even more:
“From now on, he’s called Derek.”
“We Couldn’t Be More Excited”
The Strictly pair announced their pregnancy in September with an adorable Instagram post featuring a stick-figure family drawing on a whiteboard — complete with a baby figure and the words “2026” written above it.
“Our little baby boy
we cannot wait to meet you,” they wrote.
The announcement sent fans into overdrive, with hundreds flooding the comments to celebrate the joyful news.
But behind the excitement, Dianne admitted she was nervous to share her pregnancy with her loved ones.
“It was the most nervous I’ve ever been,” she confessed in the video. “I don’t know why — I almost put it off!”
Joe nodded in agreement, adding:
“Honestly, I was more nervous to tell friends and family than to tell the public!”
A History-Making Mum-to-Be
Dianne’s pregnancy has also made history on Strictly Come Dancing — she’s the first ever pregnant professional dancer to appear on the show.
She was partnered this season with Neighbours legend Stefan Dennis, who unfortunately had to withdraw after a calf injury earlier this month.
Some fans speculated Dianne might step back due to her pregnancy, but she quickly shut down the rumours on Instagram.
“I sound like a broken record, but I keep seeing people say I shouldn’t be dancing. Why should I ignore it?” she wrote.
“I have more energy this year than I did last year! Please respect Stefan, who’s gutted he can’t perform — this wasn’t a setup. We’d both still be dancing if we could.”
Her fiery response earned praise from fans who called her “a true inspiration” and “the definition of strength.”
From Strictly Partners to Lifelong Soulmates
Joe and Dianne’s romance began on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, where their chemistry both on and off the dancefloor captured the nation’s hearts.
