Strictly Come Dancing star George Clarke broke down in tears on Saturday night after dedicating his performance to his beloved mum as she continues her battle with cancer.
The 25-year-old YouTube creator took to the dance floor with professional partner Alexis Warr for a deeply moving Rhumba, one that brought head judge Shirley Ballas and countless viewers to tears.
Flooded with emotion, George was watched from the audience by his mum and dad, calling the performance his heartfelt “love letter” to his family ahead of next week’s Blackpool special.
In his emotional VT, George shared that his mother had spent years fighting Encephalitis, a dangerous neurological condition that causes brain inflammation, before facing the devastating news of a cancer diagnosis.
“She’s the most selfless person I’ve ever met,” he said tearfully.
“When she came out of hospital, the first thing she did was apologise for what we had gone through.”
He added:
“No one deserves what she has endured — especially not her.”
