Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has reportedly had his jail time increased. The 56-year-old was jailed for four years last month after being convicted of prostitution-related charges.

Though the exact details of why the disgraced hip hop mogul will spend more time behind bars has not been disclosed, it’s been reported he has allegedly violating multiple prison rules since being behind bars.

This means Diddy’s release date has been pushed back by a month. So instead of being released in May 2028, the rapper will now have to wait until June 2028.

He is currently being held at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institute in New Jersey after being transferred from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. Fort Dix is a lower security prison where the Bad Boy Records label founder will serve the rest of his sentence.

Last week it was claimed Diddy was ‘in trouble with prison officials’ for allegedly making homemade alcohol from fermented sugar, Fanta and apples. Though his family have denied this, posting on social media: “The rumors [sic] claiming Mr. Combs was caught with alcohol are completely false. His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family.”

His spokesman Juda Engelmayer confirmed he has entered a rehab programme and said Diddy is “committed to sobriety, healing and trying to set an example for others”. He added: “Mr Combs is an active participant in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) and has taken his rehabilitation process seriously from the start.”

Giving an update on his progress, the spokesman said Diddy was “in his first week at FCI Fort Dix [after being transferred from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center] and … focused on adjusting, working on himself and doing better each day.”

The rep continued: “As with any high-profile individual in a new environment, there will be many rumors [sic] and exaggerated stories throughout his time there — most of them untrue. We ask that people give him the benefit of the doubt, the privacy to focus on his personal growth.”

Engelmayer said the rapper was now working in the prison’s church library, describing the environment as “warm, respectful, and rewarding”.

Successful completion of the rehab programme could cut down the amount of jail time he has to serve. He was sentenced on October 3 to 50 months in prison and received 14 months’ credit for time already served – though his team are thought to be appealing it.

Once released Diddy will still be subject to five years’ supervision, alongside drug testing and mental health treatment conditions.

Prosecutors had sought more than 11 years, citing what they described as a sustained pattern of coercion, manipulation and violent sexual abuse.

During the trial, former girlfriend Cassie Ventura testified that Combs used violence to force her participation in so-called “freak-offs” – drug-fuelled sex sessions involving sex workers he hired. She told the court she felt “disgusted” and “humiliated” afterwards.

At sentencing, US District Judge Arun Subramanian told Combs he “abused the power and control with women you professed to love” and said: “You abused them physically, emotionally and psychologically.” Combs apologised to Ventura and another former girlfriend, calling his conduct “disgusting, shameful and sick.”
