Adam Peaty uninvited most of his closest family to his lavish wedding to Holly Ramsay amid a bitter fallout and it appears they have made a possible dig at the swimmer from afar
Adam Peaty’s family appeared to make a pointed dig at the Olympian as he tied the knot with Holly Ramsay. While there was a star-studded guest list in attendance at Bath Abbey, including the likes of David and Victoria Beckham, members of Adam’s family had been struck off the list.
And some speculated whether they were letting their feelings be known by flying a Union Flag upside down near their property as they stayed hundreds of miles from the swimmer’s wedding.
The inverted flag is seen internationally as a symbol of distress, leading some wondering whether it was intentional or not on his big day.
It comes as his mum shared her true thoughts on the wedding on the eve of the ceremony. Caroline Peaty was uninvited to her son’s wedding amid a family feud but reports claimed she was planning an appearance anyway. She had initially planned to gatecrash the wedding, but opted against it at the last minute.
Instead, she slammed her son’s behaviour towards his family in the build-up to his big day. Speaking to MailOnline Caroline said: “I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out.”
She went on: “This is the first Christmas that I’ve not had my family together – my family is broken. Yes, I have my other grandchildren. Yes, I have my other children, but my family is split because of the goings on…because of the wedding.
“Me going would just cause even more of a storm and I don’t want to ruin his wedding day. I wanted to be there quietly to watch him get married, but that can’t happen now.
“I don’t know if they are too young or don’t value family as much as I have, but they don’t understand that family is the foundation to everything.
While Adam’s family weren’t invited, in attendance was Holly’s dad celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, her sisters Tilly and Megan, her proud mum Tana along with brother Jack, a marine,. And there was a host of celebrity pals, including David and Victoria Beckham and their children and Dan Walker.
Following the bash at Bath Abbey, the crowd congregated at the lavish Kin House. The Georgian manor boasts a secret stage, a private pool and 10-acre garden, as well as a dressing room which even comes with hair-washing stations and a barber on the top floor ready for “pre-party preparations”.
It seems the celebrations will go well into the night as the website of the luxurious manor details their bar being open into the early hours.
It says: “Guests staying with us are welcome to carry on the party in Fitz Bar, which is open until the early hours.”
And the wedding party can nurse any potential hangovers with a private yoga session, or a dip in the venue’s new swimming pool.
