Katie Piper has opened up about the reality of long-term love, admitting that even her seemingly picture-perfect marriage has had its difficult moments.
The Loose Women star, 41, will celebrate her 10th wedding anniversary with her husband, carpenter Richard Sutton, next month. In a candid new interview, Katie confessed: “Staying married for 10 years has been a struggle at times. At first it’s all romance, excitement and lust, but then the day-to-day of marriage is a practice you have to choose to keep doing. Sometimes your motivation goes, but the discipline hopefully remains.”

Katie stressed that while she avoids being “mushy” on Instagram out of respect for people who might be single, she and Richard remain affectionate away from social media. “I don’t want my kids to think a relationship is just logistical or transactional. I want them to see us as a couple as well as parents.”
The broadcaster, who has built a career as an author, activist and TV presenter, has also been busy juggling her ITV series Katie Piper’s Weekend Escape, her latest book Still Beautiful, and parenting her two daughters. On top of that, she recently introduced a new family member — Sugar, a rescue puppy adopted from Battersea.

Reflecting on ageing and female empowerment, Katie shared that she once believed beauty was a woman’s greatest currency, but has since realised that narrative is both “crazy and depressing.” Now she is committed to using her platform to challenge stereotypes, push for more girls to stay in sport, and continue her advocacy around confidence and resilience.
Despite the challenges of balancing marriage, family, and a thriving career, Katie insists that love, discipline and connection remain at the heart of her life.
