Alison Hammond has never shied away from honesty — but her latest admission about her health journey has sparked one of her boldest and most emotional responses yet.
The This Morning and Great British Bake Off star has revealed she’s lost 13 stone, but says she’s exhausted by the constant judgement over how she got there.
And she has one blunt message for critics:
“What does it matter how people lose weight? Would you rather I die from being obese?”
A Rare, Fiery Response From Alison
Speaking to Woman’s Own magazine, the presenter addressed the chatter surrounding weight-loss injections, insisting she hasn’t used them so far — but believes people should stop demonising anyone who does.
“I don’t like the idea that you have to swear you’d never take the jab,” she said.
“Maybe next year I might start jabbing up. Who knows? If something helps save your life, why judge it?”
At 50, Alison says her only motivation for losing weight was health:
“The only reason I lost weight is because I was at risk of diabetes.”
“If it keeps you alive, do it.”
Alison believes people should feel free to explore any safe option to improve their health — whether it’s medication or surgery.
“If you want the jabs — do it. If you want gastric surgery — do it. We should want people to live longer. If something helps you get healthier, let yourself.”
She stressed that weight doesn’t define who she is:
“I’m still the same person. Bigger or smaller, nothing about me changes.”
Yet she finds herself constantly portrayed as “showing off her new body,” even when she’s simply walking to work.
“I’m just living my life. But suddenly normal things become headlines.”
Hard Work Behind the Scenes
Though she hasn’t used weight-loss injections, Alison has transformed her routine, training four times a week with a personal trainer and focusing on long-term health.
Friends say she’s glowing — and Alison agrees she feels “amazing” and “happy within herself,” especially after turning 50 earlier this year.
Honouring Her Mother
Following her transformation, Alison has begun clearing out her wardrobe — selling clothes she no longer needs in memory of her late mother, who always encouraged her to take care of her health.
Still Alison, No Matter What
Now slimmer and healthier, Alison says she refuses to let public scrutiny shape her journey.
“It’s troubling that people act like I’m suddenly different. I’m exactly who I’ve always been.”
Her message is clear, unapologetic, and powerful:
Everyone deserves the chance to live longer — and no one has the right to decide how they do it.
