Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s Kids ‘Are Still Really Close’ Despite Divorce: ‘They Talk All the Time’ (Exclusive Sources)

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez may have gone their separate ways, but their blended family is still bonded.

“Things between Ben and Jennifer are good,” an Affleck source tells PEOPLE. “Even though they’re not together anymore, they’ve stayed on friendly terms.”

The same can be said of their children, multiple sources say. Affleck, 53, is dad to Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 53, while Lopez and ex Marc Anthony, both 56, share 17-year-old twins Max and Emme.

“The kids are still really close,” the Affleck source says. “They have the same groups of friends, they see each other and they talk all the time. They make sure the kids know they get along. The most important thing to both of them is raising their kids in a supportive environment, so they plan to stay in each other’s lives.”

Years after calling off their first engagement, Affleck and Lopez reconnected then married in 2022. They split in 2024 and finalized their divorce this past January but have kept things positive for the sake of their children.

“She’s a great mom and always gave Ben’s kids the same love,” a Lopez source says. “Even though her contact with Ben is now more sporadic, they make sure the kids can spend time together whenever they want.”

Affleck and Lopez first began dating in 2002 after working together on the set of Gigli. They got engaged for the first time in November of that year but called it quits in January 2004. The two rekindled their romance — and got engaged for a second time — years later in 2021.

In Aug. 2024, on the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding ceremony (which they held after eloping in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022), Lopez filed for divorce from the Batman star.

In May, the Hustlers star spoke with Spanish newspaper El País ahead of her world tour and shared that when she was going through a difficult time last year, she addressed it directly with her twins.

“I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that and I did it,” Lopez said. “And they feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life.”

“I’m happier that I’m a step further along than I was a year ago, two years ago, three years ago… I’m proud of myself for that and I’m proud that I was able to navigate my children through difficult times, that they’re stronger and better because of it,” she continued. “So, it’s a great time to go out there and dance and sing and have a good time with everybody.”
