“Golden Whisk & Finɑl Goodbye: Iɑin Stirling Wins ɑs John Torode Mɑkes His Lɑst MɑsterChef Appeɑrɑnce!”

🎄✨ A Golden Whisk, a final bow — and the Christmas that changed MasterChef forever

What should have been just another festive special became one of the most unforgettable episodes in Celebrity MasterChef history.

On a night filled with nostalgia, nerves and Christmas chaos, Iain Stirling — the comedian best known as the voice of Love Island — lifted the Golden Whisk… while viewers slowly realised they were also witnessing John Torode’s final-ever appearance on the show.

It was a win wrapped in celebration — and a goodbye wrapped in silence.Iain Stirling was crowned the winner of Celebrity MasterChef's Christmas Special on Monday, in what was John Torode's final appearance on the show after being axed

A kitchen full of big personalities

Iain battled it out with a vibrant celebrity line-up:

  • GK Barry, the viral podcast star

  • Kola Bokinni from Ted Lasso

  • Nikki Fox, broadcaster and disability campaignerJohn, 60, was sacked from his long-standing role on the cooking show for the alleged use of a racist term, months after Gregg Wallace was also dropped from the show

From the Secret Santa mystery box to reinventing the ultimate Christmas dinner, the competition was fierce — but festive.

Rather than turkey and trimmings, Iain served a deeply personal menu inspired by his childhood Chinese takeaway Christmases, featuring crispy chicken thighs with Chinese spices, cauliflower cheese, peach-and-banana crumble and rum-and-raisin ice cream.

The judges were sold.

John called the chicken “delicious.”
Grace Dent said she’d happily come back for seconds.

“I’m made up!” — and the moment that sealed it

When the Golden Whisk was placed in his hands, Iain was visibly stunned.

“Wow! I’m made up!” he laughed, joking he might quit comedy for cooking.

It was the perfect ending — at least on the surface.

The quiet farewell behind the sparkle

But behind the tinsel and triumph was an unmistakable finality.

This Christmas special marked the last episode John Torode filmed before the BBC confirmed his departure following an investigation into historic language used in the workplace. His exit, alongside the earlier removal of Gregg Wallace, has reshaped the future of MasterChef.

From September, chef Anna Haugh will join Grace Dent on the judging panel — signalling the start of a new era.

One night, two stories

For Iain Stirling, it was a festive dream — a Golden Whisk earned through heart, humour and a plate full of memories.

For MasterChef, it was something much bigger:
the end of a chapter… and the beginning of another.

And as the credits rolled, fans were left with a feeling that this Christmas wasn’t just special — it was historic.
