Jordan Brook, star of The Only Way Is Essex, has shared that he is “weak and unable to walk” due to his ongoing battle with meningitis and encephalitis. The 31-year-old revealed the news as he posed with his pregnant girlfriend Sophie Kasaei on Instagram.

Last week, the star shared that he had been diagnosed with a viral form of meningitis, which is different to the bacterial meningitis B that is at the centre of the Kent outbreak. As such, Jordan has been in hospital for a fortnight, where he was also diagnosed with encephalitis, a rare and life-threatening inflammation of the brain.

In his most recent health update, the TOWIE star thanked Sophie for “holding” him up through his illness. He shared a picture of him with Sophie, where rested his head on her arm as he sat in a wheelchair. Jordan wrote over the top: “Lord give me strength. Get me home to my boy.

“5 mins of fresh air off the ward this morning with my everything. Still not got the strength to walk and am super weal all over my entire body. Thank you for holding me up all the way through this @sophiekasaei_. Still a long way to go in this battle but we are getting there.”

Sophie, who is seven months pregnant with the couple’s first child, previously said that they were having the “worst month” of their lives. She said it was a “scary time” as Jordan was suffering seizures, and continued online: “Popped back home for a little rest after being at the hospital with my darling all day. Still such a scary time but everyday Jord shows strength that we won’t let this awful condition beat him.

She added that the baby “keeps us all going” but that anyone who had known a loved one with meningitis would “understand how scary it can be”. “Seizures are scary to witness but he’s in safe hands,” Sophie assured fans. “We are all there for him right now and I’m being looked after by my family too.”

This came only days after she warned fans that “life can change in the blink of an eye” as Jordan was admitted to hospital. Sophie described the time as a “living nightmare” and the “hardest thing” she had ever known.

Jordan later shared a video from his hospital bed, where he shared that he hadn’t been able to speak because of his illness. “This is the first time I’ve really been able to speak strong enough about what’s going on,” he said in the clip.

“There’s been a lot of speculation as to why I’m here and what’s going on, and there’s a few comments and people saying things, but this is my diagnosis that I got yesterday.

“I’ve been diagnosed with not one, but two viruses that are attacking similar part of my body. I’ve got viral meningitis and encephalitis together. That’s the inflammation of the brain and the lining around it. So this isn’t something small or minor.”
