He’s been showering his younger girlfriend Katie Alexander with lavish gifts and five-star holidays in an apparent bid to save their rocky relationship – and now pals have branded Eamonn Holmes ‘a fool’ in his rebound romance.
‘Pals have warned Eamonn that the writing has been on the wall for some time,’ we’re told. ‘Everyone gave Katie the benefit of the doubt at first. On meeting her, she is genuine and appears kind and has all the best intentions, with Eamonn’s wellbeing at heart. But pals think she’s not in it for the long game.’
Last month, Eamonn, 65, treated his 43- year-old girlfriend to a football match with £12,000 VIP tickets. They watched his beloved Manchester United draw 1-1 with Fulham from the hospitality stand with Michelin-star food, before spending a romantic weekend in his native Belfast. This was just weeks after the GB News presenter – whose divorce from Ruth Langsford is still being finalised – took Katie and her three adult children on a luxurious holiday to Cyprus, where they stayed at the five-star Annabelle Beach Resort, which has four swimming pools, four restaurants, tennis courts and a spa.
The vacay came not long after the star pulled out of buying Katie a £550,000 semi-detached home in West Yorkshire, amid rumours that cracks are starting to show in their year-long romance.
Our source says, ‘In the most recent pictures of them on holiday, they’re barely touching or exchanging glances. And when they’ve been spotted together at events, it looks like Katie is about to check out.’
Eamonn’s kids – Declan, 36, Rebecca, 34, and Niall, 32, with first wife Gabrielle, as well as 23-year-old Jack with Ruth – have had concerns about his romance with divorced relationship counsellor Katie. He has reportedly had a falling out with Niall, who is siding with his stepmother Ruth, while things remain ‘strained’ between Eamonn and Jack. The fact Eamonn and Katie are still together is said to have ‘gone down like a lead balloon’ with his family.
‘His children don’t feel sorry for their dad. They’re angry and embarrassed over his behaviour, and they have seen the red flags. A lot of people have commented that Eamonn’s lost so much and all for some arm candy,’ says our insider. ‘Now, people are saying Eamonn’s the old fool that got sucked in and will inevitably be spat out. Of course, no one wants to see this relationship end for Eamonn, but they just don’t see a future in it.’
Eamonn and Katie, who have known each other since 2015, started dating shortly after his 14-year marriage from Ruth ended in May 2024, after 27 years. He and his new girlfriend were first seen together in August, before they made their public debut as a couple a few months later. They went Insta- official in May, marking a year since his break- up announcement. Since then, they have split their time between his London home and hers in Yorkshire, where her family live.
