AN ITV star has been taken to hospital after collapsing near the finish line of his half marathon.
James Middleton, first rose to fame on short-lived ITV reality show Survival of the Fittest in 2018 and has since gone on to enjoy a career as one of the UKâs leading fitness influencers with over 700,000 followers.
But he has opened up on a scary moment which saw him rushed to hospital whilst competing in a half marathon.
Speaking in a video from his hospital bed, James said: âSo, my half marathon didnât quite go to plan as you can probably tell.
âI am hooked up [to a drip], Iâm in hospital, Iâve been here for about eight hours and Iâm having to stay the night.
âI collapsed about 50 or 100 yards â but Iâm not sure, I donât remember anything.
âIt was near the finish line, I had exhaustion, I had a temperature of 107.â
James went on to praise a quick-thinking friend who âsaved his lifeâ by picking him up and jumping over the rails to get to him.
He added further in his written caption: âI had a temperature of 107 so was in an ice bath for 20 mins to cool down which I donât remember either.
âThen taken to hospital as Iâve got rhabdo (when muscle tissue breaks down so aggressively it releases proteins into the blood stream which can overwhelm the kidneys) but I am in great hands with the medical team here who are honestly incredible and Iâm incredibly grateful for.â
He went on to add: âThankful to be alive, and I think for the foreseeable Iâll take a break from racing and get stuck into some yoga.â
Reacting in the comments, one of his fans said: âSo glad youâre okay James!! How scary.â
As another added: âHeal up James! Glad youâre ok!â
Before a third wrote: âSpeedy recovery! Scary experience and glad to see you are ok.â
