White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has swapped defending her boss for sharing some new snaps of her baby boy.

President Donald Trump‘s 28-year-old White House Press Secretary, who is expecting her second child later this year, took to her Instagram Stories on March 17 to share some wholesome snaps from her St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

In the first upload, Karoline shared a video of herself dancing to a live band playing Irish music while holding her 18-month-old son Niko in her arms, swaying him to the rhythm. In the following slide, Karoline, who is married to real estate mogul Nicholas Riccio, 60, was seen taking a stroll along the West Wing of the White House as her little one gazed up at her.

“St. Patrick’s Day at the White House!” Karoline penned atop the post, followed by a four-leaf clover.

The spokeswoman was also dressed for the occasion, rocking an entirely green look fitting in with the famous Irish colors. She wore a calf-length green blazer and added a pair of darker green suit pants. Her look was completed with a pair of white slip-on loafers, and her signature blonde locks were straightened into a simple style just below her shoulders.

Karoline’s mini break from her high-pressure job comes after a stressful time in the Trump administration. The United States is currently at war with Iran, which has been causing chaos all over the world since February 28. From skyrocketing gas prices to several US soldiers losing their lives and army drafting speculation, Karoline has had to jump to her boss’ defense on numerous occasions.

The latest saga has come in the form of the resignation of the nation’s leading counterterrorism official, Joe Kent. Kent stepped down in opposition to military operations against Iran.

As a result, he received a scathing attack from President Trump, who blasted him as “weak” in a scathing statement, though the remarks didn’t reflect favorably on the 79-year-old leader.

“I always thought he was weak on security. Very weak on security. I didn’t know him well. But I thought he seemed like a pretty nice guy. But when I read his statement, I realized that it’s a good thing he’s out because he said Iran was not a threat,” Trump said as he addressed Kent stepping down.

A clip of the breaking news segment was shared on X, where critics were quick to weigh in. One user penned, “It’s always hilarious when he does this with people he appointed. If you thought he was so weak on security, why did you make him your National Counterterrorism Director? Are you a moron? What else could explain that curious decision?”

Another pointed out, “They are only weak, useless, after they leave,” leading to a third to echo, “Shocked, actually flabbergasted that Trump is now saying he’s terrible. I mean, he hired him, but now he’s awful.”

This theme continued throughout the replies, with a fourth chiming in, “Ok, if he was so weak, why did Trump appoint him in July? Every time one of his appointees turned detractor quits or gets fired, Trump claims that they always sucked. Kent is a former Army SF CWO combat vet who resigned in protest to what he characterized as an unnecessary war.”

The response came after Kent, Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, stated that Iran represented no immediate danger and the conflict began “due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”

He said, “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war. I support the values and the foreign policies that you campaigned on in 2016, 2020, 2024, which you enacted in your first term. Until June of 2025, you understood that the wars in the Middle East were a trap that robbed America of the precious lives of our patriots and depleted the wealth and prosperity of our nation.”

Kent continued, “In your first administration, you understood better than any modern President how to decisively apply military power without getting us drawn into never-ending wars. You demonstrated this by killing Qasam Solamani and by defeating ISIS.”

He concluded, “As a veteran who deployed to combat 11 times and as a Gold Star husband who lost my beloved wife Shannon in a war manufactured by Israel, I cannot support sending the next generation off to fight and die in a war that serves no benefit to the American people nor justifies the cost of American lives. I pray that you will reflect upon what we are doing in Iran, and who we are doing it for. The time for bold action is now.”
