House of Games star Richard Osman admitted he felt “more ashamed” after his kids were born as the milestones didn’t halt his battle with addiction.
Richard has battled with an eating addiction since he was a child and assumed having children would bring about a “change”.
The TV presenter turned bestselling author thinks the condition was sparked aged nine by his dad leaving the family and it was his attempt to regain control of the situation.
Speaking to the Times, he said: “Nothing changes anything. I remember when my kids were born, I thought this will change it and, of course, it didn’t. All it makes you feel is even more ashamed.”
Daughter Ruby was born in 1998 and his youngest Sonny arrived two years later. He believed their births would help see a positive change in his ongoing battle with the condition but he was mistaken.

In recent years Richard, 54, has looked to face the condition head-on and has gone to therapy which has helped him overcome some of the negative emotions that come with the health issue.
Richard, who has found success with The Thursday Murder Club series, admitted it has had a positive impact on his writing career, enabling him to develop multiple characters.
He said: “So many of the things I do are irrational and yet we spend our lives judging other people for being irrational. We’re all just doing our best.”
Richard has been one of the most recognisable faces on British TV down the years, appearing on shows like Pointless and House of Games.
