A UK beauty company that had attracted customers from around the world thanks to its success on social media has entered liquidation. Mallows Ltd, better known under its trading name Mallows Beauty, is a skincare and body care company founded in 2019 by entrepreneur Laura Mallows from Cowbridge.

Based in Llantrisant, the brand quickly carved out a niche in the beauty industry by focusing on vegan, cruelty-free products that align with the growing demand for ethical and sustainable self-care. Mallows Beauty offers a diverse range of skincare and body products designed to be both effective and environmentally conscious, appealing to consumers who value transparency and compassion in their beauty routines.

Facing mounting trading challenges and financial pressures, Mallows Ltd made the difficult decision to voluntarily enter liquidation. To oversee this process, joint liquidators from the Cardiff office of the insolvency practice Menzies were appointed, ensuring that the company’s remaining assets, obligations, and liabilities would be managed in accordance with legal and financial requirements.

Their role involves handling creditor claims, distributing any available funds, and bringing the company’s affairs to a close in a structured and transparent way, marking the end of Mallows Ltd’s trading journey.

In a statement Menzies said: “As a result of financial constraints the company ceased to trade on and the remaining employees were made redundant.

“The board of directors engaged Bethan Evans and John Cullen of Menzies to assist them with placing the company into creditors’ voluntary liquidation and were subsequently appointed joint liquidators of the company on November 27.

“The liquidators’ role is to work for the benefit of creditors as a whole, to realise and distribute assets, and make inquiries into the failure of the business and the conduct of the directors.”

Earlier this week, the brand’s intellectual property was sold to fashion-label Skinnydip London. Founder Laura Mallows was left “devastated” after starting the operation with “just £600 on a parents’ credit card”.

She said: “This year has been especially tough. I always try to be positive online and rise above the negativity and try not to lean into it too much and talk about all the things that kept me down. But I think by doing that I’ve kind of lost my authenticity and lost my voice.

“I underestimated how hard it would be to run a business and underestimated how hard it would be to grow a business.”
