Stacey Solomon has opened up about an emotional family moment after saying goodbye to her eldest son, Zachary, as he set off for a summer placement in America.
The TV presenter shared that Zachary, 18, is taking part in a five-week Camp America experience, a milestone that marks an exciting step toward independence. While Stacey said she had encouraged him to take the opportunity, the reality of watching him leave was much harder than she expected.
Before he headed off, Stacey posted a sweet photo with her son and admitted she was feeling a mixture of pride, excitement and sadness. She said life at Pickle Cottage will feel very different without him around for the next few weeks.
Although the farewell was emotional, Stacey made it clear how proud she is of Zachary. She said she knows he will have an amazing time and suggested the camp will be lucky to have him.
Fans quickly responded with supportive messages, with many parents saying they understood exactly how she felt. Some shared their own experiences of watching their children travel, move away or take their first big steps into adulthood.
Camp America also left a kind message, welcoming Zachary and reassuring Stacey that he would be supported during his time abroad.
For the Solomon-Swash family, this summer marks another meaningful chapter. Zachary’s trip brings the promise of new experiences, new friendships and more independence, while Stacey’s reaction reminded many parents how emotional it can be to watch a child grow up.
