Viewers have criticised the Mrs Brownâs Boys Christmas special and say they couldnât âwait to switch it offâ just minutes into the show.
The BBC sitcom show returned on Wednesday with an episode called âMammyâs Bottlesâ, but fans were left particularly unimpressed, branding it âwoefulâ and ânot funnyâ.
The theme was to rediscover the meaning of family as she brought her dearest ones together for a festive photograph.
It showed Buster revealing yet another of his trademark Christmas trees with maximum drama, while Cathy worried about which gifts to buy.
This is set to be followed by a New Yearâs Day special.
Yet viewers of the British show raced to X, expressing their malcontent with the latest special episode, and commented:

âThe BBC have just witnessed the biggest switch off in their history as they announce the Christmas special of #mrsbrownsboysâ;
âHow the hell is Mrs Browns boys still a thing, absolutely woeful #mrsbrownboysâ;
âWho finds #MrsBrownBoys funny? Itâs f*****g awfulâ;
âMrs. Browns Boys being the highlight of Christmas TV. A national disgrace.â
âOkay, that VR bit with granddad is probably the only funny thing #MrsBrownsBoys has produced in the past decadeâ.
The BBC One show sees Brendan OâCarroll as Agnes Brown, an elderly woman who likes interfering in the lives of her friends and family members, and goes to any extent to find out what secrets her family is keeping from her.
The livid reaction comes after the creator of Mrs Brownâs Boys has made a desperate plea to the BBC after the controversial show was blasted by TV fans for âruining the Christmas TV scheduleâ.
Lead star Brendan, 70, who is best known for playing the comedic Irish matriarch, said that he would love to bring back his axed talk show, All Round To Mrs Brownâs.

It saw the comedian step into Agnes Brownâs shoes and interview a number of big-name celebs including Baywatchâs Pamela Anderson and Spice Girl Mel B.
Brendan said that he would âloveâ to bring the talk show back after it was axed during the Covid pandemic because it gave him so much creative freedom.
He said: âI remember when we had Caitlyn Jenner on and I went up to the dressing room and I said to her, âWhereâs the line? I donât want to cross the line.â
âShe said, âNo lineâ. And I said, âReally?â. That was a red rag to a bull.â
What followed was a controversial question about the former Olympianâs anatomy.
Brendan remembered: âShe said âI beg your pardon?â. And it went great. She was absolutely magnificent.â
Speaking about the future of the series itself, the comedian said: âThey havenât asked yet, but if they do, Iâll certainly think about it.
âThe last one went really well.
âI found it so freeing to write a mini-series because I didnât have to do a Christmas tree.
âI could write whatever I wanted.â
