Fern Britton is embracing a new chapter — and looking effortlessly elegant while doing it.
The 68-year-old presenter treated her Instagram followers to a stylish new photo on Saturday, proudly revealing her impressive five-stone weight loss with a confidence that fans say “radiates joy”.
In the chic snap, the former This Morning host posed in a velvet khaki blazer paired with matching tailored trousers — a luxe ensemble gifted by Busby & Fox. Underneath, she added a feminine touch with a crisp white ruffled blouse tucked neatly into her high-waisted trousers, creating a look that felt both polished and relaxed.
It’s a transformation that’s been years in the making.
Fern has spoken candidly about her lifelong struggle with weight, admitting she has swung between a size 22 and size 12 over the decades. But earlier this year, she finally addressed the whispers surrounding her dramatic slim-down — including online speculation about Ozempic.
Speaking to Woman & Home, she set the record straight:
“People often wonder how you’ve done it. I can look you in the eye and say: yes — I did it naturally.”
Her renewed lifestyle began after shoulder surgery a few years ago, a moment she describes as a turning point.
“I thought, ‘Right. Time to reclaim my life. Cut the cigarettes, cut the drinking, sort out the eating… and stop lying in bed feeling sorry for myself.’”
From there, Fern committed to the Couch to 5K running programme and slashed 80 per cent of the sugar from her diet. She admitted she had never truly considered what or how much she was eating until she took control.
Her healthier lifestyle has given her new energy — something she showed off again in October, sharing joyful photos from a cycling holiday in Italy. Fern beamed alongside friends she’s known for two decades, captioning the post:
“A glorious week in Italy with the Bike Buddies… Love you ladies.”
Fans flooded the comments, praising her glowing appearance and renewed vitality.
“Looking fire, Fern,” one follower wrote.
Away from the cameras, Fern has also been building a successful second career as an author. Since moving permanently into her Cornish holiday home five years ago — renovating it bit by bit — she has thrown herself into writing.
Her 11th novel, A Cornish Legacy, took two years to complete, twice her usual pace, but marks another milestone in her late-career creative surge.
Fern published her first book New Beginnings in 2011, shortly after leaving This Morning, and has been especially prolific since the pandemic, delivering Daughters of Cornwall in 2020 and The Good Servant in 2022.
Now, with a slimmer frame, renewed health, and a deepening love for storytelling, Fern Britton is proving that reinvention has no age limit.
