Jɑmie Redknɑpp’s ‘Witty’ Comebɑck About His Fɑiled Mɑrriɑge Leɑves Viewers UNCOMFORTABLE

The final season of A League Of Their Own delivered plenty of laughs — but one moment last week left viewers cringing as Jamie Redknapp found himself mercilessly mocked over his failed marriage to ex-wife Louise.

The former footballer, now 52, split from the singer in 2017 after two decades together. Since then, Jamie has remarried Swedish model Frida Andersson and welcomed a young son, seemingly moving on with his life.

Jamie is currently starring in the 20th — and final — series of the Sky panel show alongside Jill Scott, Micah Richards and host Romesh Ranganathan, with the show’s last ever episode due to air on Wednesday.

But during last week’s episode, a seemingly harmless question quickly turned into one of the most awkward moments of the series.

Romesh asked Micah Richards:
“Meeks, what do you have on your bedroom walls?”

Micah replied casually:
“Oh… Kelly Brook!”

But after Jamie pressed him, Micah swiftly added with a grin:
“Louise Redknapp!”

The studio erupted.

Jamie immediately buried his head in his hands, laughing in disbelief, as Jill Scott jumped in with her own joke, quipping:
“Sounds like me and Meeks had the same bedroom wall!”

Jamie received a cheeky jibe from Micah Richards, who joked he had a picture of Louise on his bedroom wall as a child, and despite his attempts at a witty comeback, it quickly backfired

Attempting to regain control, Jamie fired back with what he clearly thought was a sharp comeback:
“Look at you two! You and Tom look like a s**t Britney and Justin Spears…”

But the punchline fell flat — fast.

Realising his mistake mid-sentence, Jamie quickly corrected himself:
“Justin Timberlake even!”

Romesh was quick to pile on, teasing:
“You’re like Justin bloody Spears and Britney bloody Timberlake.”

Still laughing, Jamie admitted:
“I’ve had that in my head for about ten minutes as well.”

Micah didn’t miss the opportunity to twist the knife, adding:
“He thought it was so good! He was waiting for that moment.”

While the exchange played for laughs, it touched on a deeply sensitive chapter in Jamie and Louise’s past — one that Louise has previously said left her painted as the “villain” in the public eye.

Speaking to The Independent, Louise admitted the breakdown of their marriage subjected her to intense scrutiny.
“I was the villain,” she said. “I’d been lucky in my career for years because I didn’t really have much scrutiny. Then bang — everybody’s got an opinion.”

She added:
“Anything someone could perceive as negative, I cut out. Nothing I said was right. To defend myself was wrong. To not defend myself was wrong. I felt like I was walking up a one-way street with nowhere to go.”

Louise and Jamie’s relationship unravelled following her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016 — a period that sparked relentless media attention and speculation.

Opening up later on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, Louise revealed that her children were the only thing that stopped her from hitting rock bottom.

“If I didn’t have my kids, I think I would have just given up,” she admitted. “I really do. I just knew my kids were my everything — and they needed me.”

The former couple share two sons, Charles, 21, and Beau, 17, and have successfully co-parented since their split in 2017.

Louise also spoke candidly about how public judgment intensified her pain.
“When you’re already going through something so personal, and then you get this barrage of judgment and nastiness — I never realised people could be so unkind,” she said.

“I was breaking — absolutely breaking — beyond what I thought was possible for a human being, while still trying to be a mum.”

As A League Of Their Own approaches its final episode, the moment serves as a reminder that even light-hearted jokes can reopen old wounds — and that sometimes, the sharpest punchlines are the ones that backfire.
