The darts players were also disrupted by the infamous wasp
SKY SPORTS were forced into censoring the crowd at the World Darts Championship after they made an X-rated chant about Keir Starmer.
The tournament at Ally Pally had its latest edition of action on Friday night with Nathan Aspinall the headliner.
The raucous crowd was in typically-loud voice throughout the arrowed action at the oche.
But one moment saw Sky Sports intervene in order to drown out the fans’ X-rated chants aimed at the Prime Minister.
Fans were singing “Keir Starmer is a W***er” to the tune of The White Stripes’ cult favourite Seven Nation Army.
However, it became clear that the broadcaster had used an effects button in order to drown them out.
Fans noticed the apparent effect as they reacted on social media.
One posted: “Wonder how many times Sky Sports will block out the Keir Starmer’s a w***er chant at the darts.”
A second commented: “The crowd noise was shocking haha they could’ve made it a bit less obvious.”A third wrote: “Chants of Keir Starmer’s a w***er at the World Darts Championship this evening.”It is not the first time the broadcaster has intervened to drown out chants.
The same happened when Stephen Bunting took on Danny Noppert at the World Grand Prix back in October.
Meanwhile, Apsinall’s clash with Lourence Ilagan was forced to be stopped due to the Ally Pally wasp.
The insect was seen hovering about as Filipino darts star Ilagan stepped back from a throw during the second game in the opening set.
Ilagan made every effort to avoid the insect as he ran from one side of the stage to the other.
The wasp then saw the game stopped for a second time in the opening set as Aspinall took a swipe at it as it flew nearby.
The Ally Pally Wasp has been terrorising players since the start of the tournament on December 11.
Aspinall won the tie 3-1 to advance into the next round.
