Think twice about booking tickets to that hideous skirt convention, because the stars of The Devil Wears 2 are runway-ready for your attention in the upcoming sequel’s first trailer.
Stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci return for the first full-length preview of the highly anticipated comedy sequel, which sees Hathaway’s Andy Sachs reunite with Streep’s ruthless fashion editor, Miranda Priestly, for what appears to be a major clash of the fashion titans.
“Runway: It is not just a magazine. It’s a global icon. A winding road that brings us back together again,” Tucci’s Nigel narrates in the trailer, over footage of Streep-as-Miranda working a crimson gown for multiple cameras at a major public event.
While Madonna’s “Vogue” kicks in during the preview, Hathaway’s Andy makes her way back to the Runway offices, where she’s greeted by a loving jab from Nigel (“Look what TJ Maxx dragged in,” he says) and a flabbergasted Miranda.
“Who is this? Do you know her?” Miranda asks Nigel. It’s later revealed that Andy is now a features editor at Runway, and has, for reasons unknown, re-teamed with Miranda and Nigel to face off against fellow former assistant Emily (Blunt), who now runs a fashion enterprise of her own. The new trailer ends just as things heat up in a boardroom, with Emily playfully roasting Andy’s eyebrows as they prepare for some sort of fabulous battle down the line.
Ahead of production on the film, Entertainment Weekly previously exclusively reported that all primary stars were set to return for a sequel to the 2006 blockbuster dramedy, also director by David Frankel, in which Hathaway appeared as a budding journalist who begrudgingly took a low-level assistant job at Runway magazine, where she found her professional (and fashionable) footing all while learning about herself — and Miranda’s devilish dedications to the brand — in the process.

EW later learned that pop star Lady Gaga would join the returning cast for The Devil Wears Prada 2 for a small role in the film, after exclusively revealing that OG star Adrian Grenier wouldn’t reprise the role of Andy’s love interest, Nate, in the sequel.
Adapted from former Vogue assistant to Anna Wintour Lauren Weisberger’s book of the same name, The Devil Wears Prada earned just under $327 million at the global box office and scored two Oscar nominations, one for Streep’s performance and another for Patricia Field’s costumes.
Joining Frankel and the returning cast are also the first film’s writer, Aline Brosh McKenna, and producer Wendy Finerman, who both returned to work on the sequel as well.

In EW’s 15th anniversary oral history interview with the cast and crew, McKenna previously teased that a sequel might not be possible, as journalism has changed so much over the years.
“Magazines and publishing have changed so much. This is a period of time where [Andy] took a physical book to someone’s house every day so she could leaf through it. Maybe they still do that, but I doubt it. It had its moment,” McKenna said in the interview at the time.

New cast members who boarded the upcoming sequel include Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in theaters May 1 via 20th Century Studios. Watch the first full-length trailer above.
