Meghan Markle breaks down in tears as she admits she’s ‘done trying to prove’ something
It was a wild ride of emotions for the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle as she appeared on the Confessions of a Female Founder podcast hosted by her friend Jamie Kern Lima
Meghan Markle has broken down in tears on a podcast – and made a bold claim. The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex was appearing on the Confessions of a Female Founder podcast hosted by her friend Jamie Kern Lima.
During the eventful episode, she read a letter out given to her by her children Prince Archie, five, and three-year-old Princess Lilibet. Written by husband Prince Harry, it said: “From Archie and Lili via Papa – We love your cooking. We love your pancakes and we love, love, love your hugs. You’re the best mummy and we love you.”
And although that sparked a tearful response in which Meghan claimed she “wasn’t expecting” the letter to be read out, she claimed it was “so great” while wiping tears from her eyes.
She then went on to admit that she emails her children every night to accounts that she will give them access to when they’re old enough, with the conversation then turning to Meghan making a very bold claim.
She said: “I thought it was such a great time capsule to create for them and so I created for the kids these email addresses…that I will give them at some point – before I go to bed, every night, I email them.
“We spend so much of our life trying to prove something. To prove that you’re enough, that you’re pretty enough, you have to prove that you’re smart enough, a good enough wife, or friend.”
And, she pledged: “I was just so done with the prove it game and if you can’t see it I don’t have to prove it to you.
“That’s your loss because I know that I’m a great friend and know the kind of mum I am, and the kind of human being I am.
“I know how I show up and I love being able to be that person with the people I love. Maybe part of worthiness comes when you stop having to feel like you’re in the prove it game.”
The show was Meghan’s first podcast appearance outside of her own ill-fated Spotify version that came and went without much fanfare last year.
The former working royal who gave up her role alongside her husband in 2020 has been on the promotional trail recently as she looks to drum up interest in her new Netflix show With With Love, Meghan, where she invites friends and famous guests to a California estate, where she shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips.
Sounds like a thrill a minute . . .
