NINETIES TV character Mr Blobby caused pandemonium live on Good Morning Britain today, knocking a stunned Kate Garraway off her chair. The Noel’s House Party star, famous for his unpredictable behaviour, wreaked havoc in the TV studio.
Appearing on the show ahead of the famous suit being auctioned off, Blobby perched on Richard Arnold’s knee before dragging Kate onto the studio floor.
Ranvir Singh looked stunned, while Kate, now with tousled hair, laughed off the wild moment.
Blobby returned later in the show during a segment about sun lounger hoggers on foreign holidays.
He chased a guest and engaged in a tug of war over a beach towel before falling flat on his back.
The Blobby suit, one of three originals, is going under the hammer on Monday at Bristol’s Auctioneum and is expected to make £5,000.
The character made its TV debut in 1992 for a prank segment on Noel’s House Party.
Viewers loved his manic behaviour, which drove unsuspecting celebs that weren’t in on the joke crazy.
Mr Blobby claimed the coveted Christmas number one in 1993 with his self-titled novelty single, dethroning Take That.
The following year, a series of Blobby-themed leisure parks opened up — but Blobby-mania was all but over by 1997 when the main site in Somerset closed its doors.
Auctioneer Andy Stowe told the BBC: “This is the very costume that brought Blobby-mania to millions of people. If you ever saw footage of Mr Blobby wreaking havoc outside the studio, it was in this very costume.
“During its lifetime it performed many stunts including running along Charmouth beach, and even dangling from a helicopter.
“It’s not just a costume, it’s a piece of pure British comedy history. An absolute once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of pure 90s nostalgia.”
